This Just In -

I'm not dead! Whew, aren't you glad? But seriously, I feel terrible for neglecting this little piece of blog-landia. This summer has been crazy, work is suddenly busy and I'm taking on some new responsibilities (tedious data entry which is taking a while to get the hang of), and my feel good/feel bad roller coaster ride has been nasty.

I've got some wonderful pots of stew simmering on the back burners over here. I know this summer has been crazy for most of you. I hope you're able to calm down soon, cool off and get some rest. I'm looking forward to autumn already and it's not even my birthday! I usually wait until the first of August to start pining for autumn. The pining has arrived a few weeks early.

Take care and know that I've not abandoned you forever...

Just for now. A crime for sure :(

out of town & the usual "disclaimer"

Please forgive my lame excuses for blog posts lately. Work has been one big insanity slam after another. I've done well just to get out of bed in the mornings much less do anything other than stare at the computer and answer the ridiculous amounts of incoming calls.

I'll be out this weekend. Gone again to the sea. This time to South Carolina to visit friends and to see a town I've not seen in 20 years. Charleston is calling, and I'm gone!

Happy weekend! Do bear with me as I get my sanity together, this blog together. I appreciate everyone of you. Your comments truly make me smile. I've missed perusing your amazing offerings and I promise, just as soon as I can, I'll be back to making my rounds!

Wishful Thinking

Wandering the beach, searching for seashells

Walking through the clover in my mother's back yard

Padding down the hallway, early morning, smelling coffee

Sitting by the water, watching the sun come up

My soul is wishing for freedom today

I wear flip flops to remind me this office isn't me

One day we'll meet again

Myself and I

Thoughts on Ender's Game

To watch the peculiar life of Ender Wiggin unfold, is to bear witness to an extraordinary tale. There are moments that necessitate a gasp or an exclamation. My emotions were tethered to this prodigy, this very human child. It was as if I was not reading one of the most spectacular words of fiction to ever cross my imagination, but an actual account of a life lived. Not lived -past tense- but "lived", future tense, as a beacon, a shimmer, a warning.

If you've not read this book, you're in for a treat. It's one of the best stories I've ever read. My view of "story" has been altered. There are precious few books that can do that. Kudos to you, Mr. Card, for broadening my horizons and deepening my appreciation for a well crafted story. And for making me realize how much work I have ahead of me.

What cool, new books have YOU read?

Happy Friday, everyone!

I left my heart by the sea

Good morning!

I hope all my American friends had a fabulous Fourth of July and my Canadian friends enjoyed their Canada Day! If there were any more holidays that happened during my little hiatus, I hope you all partied hard and partied safe.

So, here's what went down since I last wrote:

I feel a lot better, a lot more like myself. I spent three days at the beach, and it's true what they say about salt water: it cures everything. I had two bouts with extreme exhaustion, but they were from swimming and walking so I'm not going to complain. Besides, a nap during the middle of the day is a very good thing indeed when you can hear the waves from the open window.

I read two AMAZING books which I shall review in the near future: Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card and Adam by Ted Dekker. Ooooh, I shudder just thinking about that last one. Brilliant!

Lots of thoughts and wonderings got sifted through. Good things, decisions that needed to be made, that sort of thing.

Writing hasn't really been happening, but I'm not worried. I know it will come back in time. I did sign up for WriteOnCon which will be held HERE on August 10. Even if I don't write a single word between now and then, I'm super excited to participate and learn from all the amazingly talented writers who have so graciously donated their time and wisdom.

I'm really just taking it easy in the extra curricular activities at the moment. This past weekend I did more then I've done in weeks and it felt good to be active again. I missed blogging and it feels good to be posting again. I can't make any promises at the moment ( I know, bad "social networking", bad!) but as of now I plan to change my posting schedule to Mondays and Fridays. That will give me some room to work with. And it will give me lots more time to catch up with all you lovely people!

Have a fabulous Tuesday and I'll type at you soon!
